First meeting fact finding

Your initial meeting with an accountant should be a fact finding session for you and the accountant, they will want to know what your situation is and the services you need and you will want to know what they do and who they are, below is a list of questions all accountants should be able to answer easily and we have put our answers in.

Q - How many people work in your firm, how many are qualified and how much experience do they have?

A - We have six ACCA qualified accountants who have over 80 years experience between them, a team of trainees at varying stages in their studies, a Payroll Manager and a Practice Manager.

Q - Will you be the person who will deal with my account, if not who will, are they qualified and what happens if they are not in?

A - Peter is generally the person you will meet in the interview, he will assign your account based on the skills required to a relevant qualified accountant. That accountant will then get in touch with you, our accounts are all checked by either Peter or his partner Kayvan, notes are taken along the way and we have a handover process for holidays.

Q - How many clients does the company deal with? How many will my accountant deal with?

A - We have over 500 clients with different tax needs, our accountants will deal with a selection of these throughout the year, you can contact our accountants via our office phone line, the accountants direct mobile, e-mail and even post to us on twitter @pjcoaccountants, we generally respond the same day but no longer than 24 hours.

Q - Do you provide bookkeeping software and show me how to use it?

A - Yes we provide bookkeeping software if you require it, we can come to you to show you how to use it and on standby by the phone or e-mail if you have questions.

Q - How do you make sure I don't miss any deadlines?

A - Our accountants have a great deal of knowledge of deadlines for government bodies and we stay in close contact with those agencies, we also have a piece of software that helps and many spreadsheets also.

Q - How are you going to charge me and will you charge me for advice?

A - We provide you with a fixed quote based on the services you require, we don't bill for any time spent on calls or if you come into the office for advice or a consultation.
